WILLEMSTAD/PHILIPSBURG–As announced earlier, the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS) on behalf of ENNIA Caribe Holding NV and some of its subsidiaries is seeking legal recognition in the United States (US) of the insurance company’s existing emergency regulation. The related court hearing was to take place on October 23.
Since last month CBCS has been engaged in what it calls constructive talks with various parties that have an interest in the relief sought via this “Recognition Hearing.” To encourage such discussions, which remain ongoing, those involved had agreed to request -and the US Court has meanwhile granted – an adjournment until October 31st, without prejudice to further adjournments that may be granted by the court.
“Adjournment of hearings in the US is quite common. Any additional adjournment of the Recognition Hearing will be announced,” stated CBCS.
