Instructors display their certificates.
PHILIPSBURG–University of St. Martin (USM) instructors participated in a “Train the Trainer” course provided by Pearson Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC). BTEC Higher National qualifications are recognised by industry and higher education authorities around the world as the principal technical professional qualification at Levels 4 and 5.
USM’s Hospitality and Tourism Management programme has been accredited by BTEC since 2015 and its Business programme since 2017. The instructors were trained in “Assessment Planning and Assignment Writing for the new RQF BTEC Higher Nationals”; the training was conducted by Tom Frost of Pearson.
Frost expressed his satisfaction with the progress USM has made thus far in securing that all the BTEC demands are met, such as certification of instructors and adjustments of the curriculum that allow USM to maintain the BTEC accreditation. Students who successfully complete the programme will graduate with a degree from USM and a BTEC diploma in their respective field.
Business and Hospitality and Tourism Management programmes head Jan van Beek said on Wednesday that he is extremely satisfied and is confident that the instructors are able to deliver the best possible education to the students.
USM is currently accepting applications for the upcoming Fall semester which runs from August 20 to December 15. Application deadline for new students is July 10 and registration deadline August 3.
