COLE BAY–University of St. Martin (USM) Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Hospitality Management programme students can now enrol in the fast-track programme of the Hotel School in The Hague.
The announcement was made during a gala fundraising event coordinated by USM’s Hospitality and Tourism Management programme recently.
USM said this development means that students can earn their European Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management in just two years at the Hotel School after obtaining their degree at USM.
USM’s Division Head of Hospitality Erwin Wolthuis called this another milestone for USM. “Becoming accredited was a great first step, but enabling our graduates to continue their studies at the Hotel School The Hague, which is ranked fifth in the world, proves that we are definitely on the right track,” he said.
In the meantime, the fundraising gala event, themed “The Sky is the Limit,” which was held at the Rock House Restaurant at Port de Plaisance recently was hailed as a success. The planning, organising and executing of the event was an integral part of the students’ BTEC Hospitality Management programme. This internationally recognised and accredited programme ensures that the starting professionals it delivers, not just know the relevant theories, but also can do the actual job.
At the event, Wolthuis told guests of the gala that the students were participating in an exam and that the grade of the students would be partly based on how guests experienced the event. Based on the standing ovation that students received, “it seems fair to conclude that they definitely aced that part of their exam,” USM said in a press release on Monday.
The USM Hospitality and Tourism Management students thanked their sponsors, relatives and friends for their role in helping to make the event a success.
