PHILIPSBURG–United Telecommunications Services (UTS) Curacao and the Curacao Media Organisation are organising a media-thon and benefit concert called “One Love SXM” to help raise funds for persons affected by Hurricane Irma in St. Maarten, St. Martin Saba and St. Eustatius.
The full day fundraising event will be held on Sunday, September 17, from 8:00am to 11:00pm at SAMBIL Shopping Mall in Curacao.
ONE LOVE SXM aims to bring everyone in Curaçao together to help raise desperately needed funds for the people suffering the devastation left behind by Hurricane Irma in Sint Maarten, Saint Martin, Saba and St. Eustatius. All proceeds generated during the fundraising activities taking place during ONE LOVE SXM will be for supporting the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross on our sister islands.
The fundraising activities will start at SAMBIL at 8:00am and will continue all day until 11:00pm. A call center will be placed at SAMBIL to receive donations over the phone and several donation booths will also be placed in the shopping mall to make it easy for people to make their donations in person, UTS St. Maarten said in a press release on Wednesday.
Starting at 4:00pm, the fundraising activities will expand with a second location on Brionplein with a benefit concert that will feature some of the most prominent members of Curacao’s local entertainment community. Participants include ERA, DJ Bradley, The Sleeves, DJ Boogie Man, DJ Morgan Isenia, Dreams, DJ Maarten Schakel, Charming Bastards, DJ Argenis Huerta, Dejavu, DJ Menasa, Vibe Nation feat, Junior Tecla, DJ Zoontje, DJ Chris Strick and Randell Corson and Orchestra.
The benefit concert will also count with the participation of Tony Castro and Melitza Haakmat as Masters of Ceremony.
All activities taking place during the media-thon and benefit concert will be broadcasted live by all media outlets in Curaçao.
During the ONE LOVE SXM event donations can be made through several methods:
Via telephone: a number will be made available to allow people to call in and make a donation commitment; via SMS: a short code will be made available for Curaçao and Bonaire to allow donations to be submitted via SMS and at Donation Booths – these booths will be present from 8:00am to 11:00pm at SAMBIL Shopping Mall, and from 4:00pm to 11:00pm on Brionplein.
