ANGUILLA–Six of the 21 students who were graduates of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus in Anguilla were in St. Lucia last week for the UWI Open Campus’ Tenth Presentation of Graduates Ceremony on Saturday, October 13.
The ceremony in celebration of the 703 graduates of the Open Campus was presided over by Chancellor Robert Bermudez. It was witnessed by a number of regional government and university officials including the vice chancellor and pro vice chancellors, as well as the family and friends of the graduates. Also in attendance in support of the local graduates was UWI Open Campus British Overseas Territories Manager Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks.
During the ceremony, the university also conferred Honorary Doctorate of Laws degrees on Dame Janice Mesadis Pereira of the British Virgin Islands and Larry Quinlan of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Graduates from Anguilla were Kemoloy Murphy, who received her Bachelor of Science degree in Management studies, and Vanisha Proctor and Trevor Queeley, who received Bachelor of Science degrees in Management Studies with First Class Honours. Meredith Connor was awarded a Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology and Shirba Hughes accepted her Master of Science degree in Management Studies. Marcia Brooks, who already holds a Master of Education degree, received a second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management, with Distinction.
The UWI 2018 Graduation Ceremonies continue at the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados, this Saturday, October 20, when two more local graduates Linette Carty and Angelene Henry will be in attendance.
