PHILIPSBURG–The Prosecutor’s Office and the Police Force KPSM call owners of items stolen during and in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma to visit the police station in Philipsburg on Friday, April 6, between 9:00am and 4:00pm, with proof of ownership to reclaim their goods.
Victims of the wide-scale looting that occurred can visit the police station to view the various items and provide proof of ownership for the items identified.
Items not claimed will either be donated, auctioned or disposed of. A collective decision has been made in accordance with the law to execute these actions.
Expired foods and beverages will be disposed of. Unclaimed beverages that are not expired will be auctioned. Cigarettes, cigars, etc., that are expired will be disposed of. Unexpired food will be given to persons or organisations in need. Electronics will either be donated to schools, youth/community centres, auxiliary homes and/or non-profit organisations, or auctioned based on the value. Other claimed goods such as furniture, scooters, motorbikes, etc., will be auctioned.
