PHILIPSBURG–The Special Robbery Unit has added to its workload two more cases having to do with two separate armed robberies that took place last week Thursday.
The first robbery took place in the vicinity of Sky Lounge Bar on Amazon Road around 2:30am. A woman was walking to her home when two unknown men in a car drove up to her and forcefully stole her bag containing her personal belongings. After committing the act both suspects drove away, according to police.
The second robbery took place close to Blue Mall and Villa Coral Beach around 7:45pm. A couple who were visiting the island were walking on the street holding hands and were suddenly forced apart by two men on a scooter who rode directly between them. The suspects approached the woman, utilised a Taser and stole her handbag. After committing this act both suspects fled the scene on their moped.
The police inform the general populace and visitors to the island who are staying in the Cupecoy and Lowlands areas that the recent robberies have the authorities’ fullest attention and they can rest assured that everything necessary is being done to combat this situation.
