Volunteers needed Sat. for tree planting, path making

SENTRY HILL–Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) Foundation is calling for volunteers for its tree-planting and path-cutting activity on Saturday, February 24, from 8:00 to 10:00am.

Volunteers are needed to replace all invasive plant species with native trees in a selected restoration area and to build a nature trail.

EPIC’s aim is to restore natural habitats for endemic species, increase St. Maarten’s biodiversity and promote community involvement in environmental restoration efforts. The latter is the reason for the creation of a nature trail within the site.

Anyone who enjoys gardening, wants to know more about the island’s native ecosystems and wants to plant a tree is invited to join the EPIC activity. The meeting point is the car park by the second entrance to Rainforest Adventures (between the main entrance and Emilio Wilson Park).

Drinks and snacks will be provided for volunteers. Strong shoes, a hat and sunscreen are highly recommended for volunteers.
