Beach-goers were out in full force on Thursday on the section of Simpson Bay Beach called Kim Sha in spite of the high-surf warning issued by the Meteorological Office.
A deep low-pressure system in the Western Atlantic Ocean will generate persistent long-period Northeasterly swells in the local region through at least the middle of next week. Rough seas with waves peaking up to 12 feet are expected during this timeframe, with the strongest wave action on the Northern and Eastern coasts. Sea-bathers and occupants of small craft are urged by the Met Office to stay on shore to prevent personal injury, loss of life or material damage. (John Halley photo)
