New Year’s Eve Masses and services ushered in the New Year at many churches in St. Eustatius, with congregations coming out in large numbers to worship together and reflect on the difficult past year 2020 and to look ahead with hope and caution at the New Year.
The Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Bethel Methodist Church and other churches in Statia came out on Thursday, December 31, 2020 to worship together. Ricardo Fortin conducted Mass at the St. Eustatius Roman Catholic Church, assisted by Maryteresse “Liesje” Lijfrock-Redan and Maxine Spanner Suarez (in photo). The night featured music by the Catholic Revival Band as well as scripture readings, hymns, and other activities.
