PHILIPSBURG–Windward Islands Bank (WIB) will be reopening its A.Th. Illidge Road branch today, Thursday, October 5, from 9:00am to 2:30pm and its Cole Bay branch on Tuesday, October 10, from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
WIB will also resume regular banking hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm for all opened branches as of Tuesday, October 10. Currently banks throughout the country open from 9:00am to 2:30pm, by decision of the St. Maarten Bankers Association.
The opening of two additional WIB branches is expected to significantly alleviate the long lines of persons waiting for hours outside the two currently opened locations over the past days. Persons queue outside the bank up from early morning to get inside to conduct their transactions.
Queues are also visible at several other banks in the country, including CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank in Simpson Bay and Scotiabank in Simpson Bay.
WIB’s A.Th. Illidge Road and Cole Bay branches have been closed since just before the passing of Hurricane Irma, which battered the island as the most powerful storm in the Atlantic on Wednesday, September 6.
