Winair cancels flights Thursday and Friday | THE DAILY HERALD

AIRPORT–Windward Islands Airways International Winair announced on Thursday morning that it has cancelled flights on Thursday afternoon and on Friday due to the approaching Hurricane Jerry, according to the airline’s website.

Thursday afternoon’s flights WM 441 and 442 from St. Maarten to Saba have been cancelled, as well as WM541, 542, 3001, and 2542 operating from St. Maarten to St. Eustatius and WM661, 662, 681, and 682 from St. Maarten to St. Barths.

All other flights will operate as scheduled, the airline said. However, “depending on further weather developments delays may occur.”

All Winair flights have been cancelled on Friday, due to expected tropical-storm-force wind and rain.

“Winair’s storm policy is in effect; passengers will be accommodated on the next available flights without penalties or fees,” said Winair. Persons are asked to call Winair’s reservations centre at tel. no. 1-721-545-4237 for booking changes.

Winair’s DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet will be flown out of St. Maarten as a precautionary measure and should return on Saturday for the resumption of operations “as soon as possible and as weather conditions permit.”

Winair requests customers to check its website and Facebook page for updates and changes.
