SIMPSON BAY--Winair successfully hosted the inaugural Regional Aviation and Border Interconnectivity Conference (RABIC), marking a milestone in regional collaboration among airlines, airports, and border authorities across the Caribbean.
This first-of-its-kind conference united leaders from aviation, immigration, customs, and airport management to strengthen regional connectivity and improve the passenger travel experience.
Delegates from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, the British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos Islands, and St. Maarten attended the event, all sharing a common goal: to build a seamless, efficient, and traveller-friendly Caribbean.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in Caribbean aviation cooperation,” said Hans van de Velde, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Winair. “By bringing together those who manage our borders, our airlines, and our airports, we are taking the first step toward a more connected and passenger-focused region.”
The conference opened with remarks from Minister of Justice Nathalie Tackling who welcomed delegates and underscored the importance of collaboration between aviation and border control agencies in shaping the future of regional travel.
Panel discussions throughout the day focused on harmonizing border procedures, improving inter-agency communication, and identifying opportunities for joint innovation in aviation and border management. Participants agreed that sustainable regional growth in tourism and trade depends on partnership and coordinated action.
The success of RABIC highlights Winair’s leadership in promoting dialogue, innovation, and cooperation across the region’s aviation sector.
This inaugural conference lays the foundation for continued collaboration, with future meetings planned to advance policy development and operational integration in pursuit of a truly seamless Caribbean travel experience.
