AIRPORT–Windward Islands Airways International Winair is to wet-lease an A320 twin-engine jet airliner in first quarter of this year. The jetliner will be used for twice-weekly Port-au-Prince/St. Maarten service.
Winair Vice President and Director Marketing and Sales Claudio Buncamper, according to ch-aviation.com, said the aircraft would be sourced from Sunrise Airways out of Port-au-Prince which, at present, wet-leases one A320-200 from South Africa’s Global Aviation Operations.
Operations are to begin on January 13, replacing PAWA Dominicana equipment currently used on the route.
Winair also operates four DHC-6-300s and has sourced capacity from other carriers in the past, including Air Antilles (an ATR42) and PAWA Dominicana (an MD-80).
The wet-lease with PAWA concludes on January 13 when Winair will last offer services from Curaçao to both Port-au-Prince and St. Maarten using the McDonnell Douglas operated by its partner.
