PHILIPSBURG–A woman in her early thirties is sitting behind bars for seriously injuring her elderly mother-in-law with a shoe on Thursday, October 26. Police said on Monday that G.P.L. had pushed the victim to the ground and stomped and kicked her repeatedly in the face with her heels.
The victim suffered serious damage to one of her eyes and was rushed to St. Maarten Medical Center for treatment. The damage to her eye was so severe that she was flown abroad for medical attention, but unfortunately, according to the specialists, nothing could be done to save the eye.
G.P.L was arrested by police in Simpson Bay on Sunday, October 29.
The incident took place during a discussion between the suspect and her mother-in-law F.P.L. At one point the discussion got out of hand and a fight broke out between parties.
The victim filed an official complaint with the Detective Department and the suspect was arrested by orders of the Prosecutor. She remains in custody for questioning and further investigation, according to police.
