Wreckage of yacht ‘Elsa’ removed from Ladder Bay

Salvage Company Koole-Mammoet removing the last pieces of luxury yacht ‘Elsa’ from Ladder Bay.

SABA–On Tuesday, July 11, salvage company Koole-Mammoet, hired by Rijkswaterstaat, removed the last significant piece of super yacht Elsa from Saba’s shore near Ladder Bay.

The 48-metre motor yacht ran aground on the rocks in Ladder Bay in March. All guests and crew made it from the vessel unharmed.

Last week, the salvage company removed pieces of debris from the beach and the seabed. On Saturday, Saba Conservation Foundation (SCF) made its final inspection of the sea bottom.

The Ladder Bay trail has been reopened, and the dive buoys in the area will be reinstalled on Tuesday, July 18.

The Public Entity Saba thanked everyone involved in the salvage, such as Rijkswaterstaat, Koole-Mammoet, SCF, the Harbour Office, local fishermen, and many others, it said in a statement.
