Yachting sector reaches out

Business owners and marine industry representatives recently attended the METS Tradeshow in Amsterdam. There, St. Maarten Yacht Club joined forces with K1 Britannia for a presentation on the status of the island after Hurricane Irma.

Chris Marshall, St. Maarten Yacht Club Commodore and rigging company FKG Managing Director, said people were not looking for in depth information, but had specific questions such as “Do we need to bring our own bottled water?” and “Does the bridge open?” etc. “Obviously most regular visitors already had been in touch with their agents or marinas and received information about available facilities, but were looking for the latest information on restaurants, supermarkets and available accommodations. Another important message to get across was the continuation of St Maarten Heineken Regatta on March 1-4, 2018. The METS Tradeshow is the most visited business-to-business leisure marine equipment show, which has been bringing the marine industry together for decades,” Marshall said.
