PHILIPSBURG–As the island’s biggest youth show draws closer, organiser Laugh Out Loud Productions continues to release some of the new segments that will be introduced at the Carnival Village come April 24. For the first time ever there will be a lip-sync battle during this show.
The segment pits contestants against each other in lip-syncing for one round, with the crowd determining the winner of the battle after the entire round has been completed. Participants will dress up and lip-sync the words of artistes from around the world.
In the St. Maarten twist of the game, four youngsters have signed up to win huge prizes from Youth Extravaganza title sponsor TelCell. Kadija Jospeh, Anthony Chandler, Selah Flemming and Mareel Louison are the participants in the segment who will impersonate Beyonce, Rick Ross, Young M.A. and Notorious B.I.G respectively.
“We really wanted to do something that would stand out and this competition will be something interesting to watch. These performers are really taking this segment seriously and will be having backup dancers and want to perform as close to the real artistes as possible,” stated Laugh Out Loud Productions Public Relations Officer Daniel Dormoy on Sunday.
A number of dance groups, singers, rappers and bands are part of the Youth Extravaganza 2017 line-up and organisers promise an electrifying fun-filled show for young and old this year. The crowd will also be eligible to win prizes from TelCell and other sponsors of the event.
The show is sponsored by TelCell, NAGICO, Port St. Maarten and McDonald’s restaurants. Organisers remind the public of the special 6:00pm start time, which was arranged so that youngsters would be able to watch the entire show and not be in the village after 1:00am. Tickets are on sale for US $10 and are only available at McDonald’s restaurants.
