GREAT BAY--FREEGAN Foundation is opening its doors to residents across St. Maarten for a series of free Community Mornings designed to give people a welcoming place to meet others, enjoy a meal, participate in activities or simply spend time in good company.
The initiative, supported by Oranje Fonds and Stichting Kinderpostzegels, will be held on selected Thursdays from September through December at FREEGAN HQ on Walter A. Nisbeth Road 89 in Philipsburg. Each Community Morning will run from 10:00am to 1:00pm, with coffee, tea, snacks and lunch provided free of charge.
FREEGAN said the mornings are deliberately informal. There is no fixed program and visitors are under no obligation to participate in any activity. Those attending can play games, take part in arts and crafts, help prepare food, have a conversation with others or simply sit, relax and enjoy the company.
“We see every day how important human connection is. Sometimes people don’t need another appointment or another program. They simply need somewhere to go, someone to talk to and a place where they feel welcome. That is exactly what we want these mornings to be,” said FREEGAN Foundation Managing Director DJ Jansen.
The Community Mornings are open to everyone, and participants do not need to be registered with any of FREEGAN’s other programs. No advance registration is required.
The upcoming Community Mornings are scheduled for September 3 and 24, October 8 and 29, November 12 and 26, and December 10, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at FREEGAN HQ.
Through the initiative, the foundation hopes to create more opportunities for people from different backgrounds to connect in an informal environment, while helping to strengthen relationships and a sense of community.
“Come alone, bring a friend or bring your neighbor. Have some coffee, stay for lunch, join an activity or just have a chat. Everyone is welcome,” Jansen added.
The FREEGAN Community Mornings are made possible through the support of Oranje Fonds and Stichting Kinderpostzegels.
FREEGAN Foundation works in St. Maarten to support individuals and families through food security initiatives, coaching, education and community-based activities. Its work focuses on dignity, empowerment and creating opportunities for people to connect and support one another.
