GREAT BAY--Kalaboom Entertainment has ordered 10,000 St. Maarten flags for distribution ahead of Flag Day, becoming another community group to answer the call of Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Melissa Gumbs for citizens, organizations and businesses to help keep national pride visible despite government having to scale back official Flag Day activities due to budget constraints.
Known for organizing major events on the island, Kalaboom Entertainment said its contribution is also rooted in culture, unity and patriotism. The initiative is intended to help residents, students and motorists proudly display the national colors in the days leading up to Flag Day on June 13.
The flags will first be distributed to schools, with the goal of encouraging children, as the future of St. Maarten, to embrace patriotism, national pride and love for their island. Kalaboom said it considers the involvement of young people especially important because Flag Day is not only about celebration, but also about building respect for country, identity and community.
As part of the initiative, Kalaboom Entertainment will also distribute flags to motorists on Thursday, June 11, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Bush Road in the area of their headquarters at the Miss Lalie complex. Flags will be placed on cars passing through the area so residents can be ready to display them proudly for Flag Day.
The gesture follows a growing community response to Minister Gumbs’ call for the public to step forward after it was announced that this year’s Flag Day celebrations would be scaled back due to financial limitations. Kalaboom Entertainment said it wanted to contribute in a meaningful and visible way by helping to fill St. Maarten with flags and national pride.
“These flags represent love, unity and the pride we want to see across the island,” Kalaboom Entertainment stated. “Flag Day belongs to all of us, and we want the people of St. Maarten, especially our children, to feel that pride and display it proudly.”
Kalaboom Entertainment is inviting the community to unite as one for Flag Day and to use the occasion to celebrate the island’s identity, resilience and shared love for country.
The organization said its aim is simple: to help ensure that St. Maarten is filled with pride, love and unity on June 13.
