GREAT BAY--The Ministry of Justice has officially launched its new Foreigners Management System, FMS, Online Platform, marking a major step in the modernization of immigration services in St. Maarten.
Developed and implemented by the Immigration and Border Protection Service, IBPS, the platform allows applicants to submit residence permit applications and supporting documents electronically and track the status of their applications online.
The FMS Online Platform can be accessed through services.sintmaartengov.org. Users should navigate to the Justice section and select “Residence Permit Application.”
“This new platform is about making government services work better for our community,” Minister of Justice Nathalie M. Tackling said. “It provides a simpler, more efficient way for applicants to submit and track their immigration applications while strengthening the quality and security of our services.”
The new platform replaces previously manual and fragmented processes with a centralized digital system designed to improve immigration procedures, strengthen data security and increase operational efficiency.
Through the FMS, IBPS will have access to a centralized and secure immigration database, allowing for improved recordkeeping and case management, faster processing and decision-making, and greater coordination with government partners, including the Department of Labor Affairs and the Civil Registry.
The system is also expected to improve transparency and customer service for applicants, employers and legal representatives.
Applicants can create a secure online account, complete and submit their applications with the required supporting documents and monitor the progress of their application online from their home or office.
By digitizing the process, the Ministry aims to reduce paperwork, limit processing delays and provide a more accessible immigration application process.
The launch forms part of Government’s broader digital transformation agenda and the Ministry of Justice’s ongoing efforts to modernize public services.
The Ministry is encouraging employers, applicants, legal representatives and other users of immigration services to visit the portal and familiarize themselves with the new system.
Additional guidance on the use of the FMS Online Platform will be provided to assist users during the transition.
The Immigration and Border Protection Service said it remains committed to efficient, transparent and customer-focused immigration services.
The Ministry of Justice thanked the public for its cooperation as the new system is introduced.
