GREAT BAY--After nearly a month of promoting physical activity and breast cancer awareness, the MOVE FOR HER 2026 initiative will conclude on Saturday, October 24, with a community walk at Crossway Bridge, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The organizers are inviting the wider public to join participants in bringing the 24-day challenge to a close.
Organized by Fitness Attitude Gym Club B.V. and Rooted by Linda, MOVE FOR HER began on October 1 as a breast cancer awareness step challenge encouraging residents to become more physically active while showing support for individuals and families affected by the disease.
Participants were challenged to complete 150,000 steps over the 24-day period, tracking their daily activity and motivating one another throughout the initiative. Beyond the fitness component, the challenge sought to recognize breast cancer survivors, individuals undergoing treatment, families who have lost loved ones and others affected by the disease.
The October 24 closing activity will bring participants together for a walk from one end of Crossway Bridge to the other and back, marking the completion of their collective effort.
Members of the public who did not register for the original challenge are also welcome to participate. They are invited to contribute a $10 donation and join the walk in support of the cause. Participants and supporters are encouraged to wear pink and attend with friends, relatives or colleagues.
Funds raised through MOVE FOR HER will be handed over in support of the Positive Foundation and Elektralyets Foundation, extending the initiative's contribution beyond physical activity and breast cancer awareness.
The organizers expressed appreciation to the participants who committed to the challenge, as well as the sponsors, businesses and community members who contributed to its success.
"MOVE FOR HER showed us that every step matters. We moved for awareness, for those fighting, for survivors and for those we carry in our hearts. On October 24, we want to come together one final time and finish what we started - together."
The organizers hope Saturday's walk will reinforce the importance of continued breast cancer awareness, healthier lifestyles and community support beyond Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The closing walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at 5:00 p.m. at Crossway Bridge, with the public welcome to participate through a $10 contribution.
