GREAT BAY--The St. Maarten Bodybuilding & Fitness Association (SMBBFA) is preparing to host SXM Muscle Mayhem 2026 on Friday, December 4, at the Belair Community Center, bringing together local athletes for an evening of bodybuilding, fitness and competitive challenges. Ahead of the event, the association has scheduled a general meeting for Sunday, November 8, to brief competitors on registration, competition requirements and judging criteria.

Under the leadership of President Shamire R. Connor and the Board of Directors, preparations are progressing for the competition, which aims to provide both experienced and upcoming athletes with an opportunity to showcase their physical development, discipline and dedication to the sport.

The competition will feature five categories: Bikini, Wellness, Classic Bodybuilding, Men's Physique and the Speed Fit Challenge. The latter will introduce an additional competitive element, testing participants' strength, endurance, fitness and overall athletic abilities.

As part of the preparations, the association is inviting athletes, coaches, gym representatives, members and anyone interested in participating to attend the November 8 general meeting at the Sports Auditorium, Pondfill, upstairs, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The meeting will provide information on competition rules, judging criteria, athlete registration procedures and payments, and the requirements for participating in the Speed Fit Challenge. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification directly from the association's leadership.

Athletes will be able to make their registration payments during the meeting, and the SMBBFA is strongly encouraging all prospective competitors to attend to ensure they understand the requirements and are adequately prepared.

According to the association, organizing SXM Muscle Mayhem requires extensive planning and cooperation among athletes, coaches, gyms, sponsors and community supporters. Connor and the board have been working behind the scenes to ensure that the competition provides a well-organized platform for athletes while contributing to the continued development of bodybuilding and fitness on St. Maarten.

Beyond the competition itself, the association is seeking to strengthen the local bodybuilding structure, encourage healthy lifestyles and promote greater participation in fitness-related activities. It also hopes to provide more opportunities for local athletes to gain recognition and pursue competition at the regional and international levels.

SXM Muscle Mayhem 2026 will take place on December 4 at the Belair Community Center. Doors will open at 8:00 p.m., with the competition scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m.

Advance tickets cost US$15, while admission at the gate will be US$20. Tickets will be available through SMBBFA board members, participating athletes and selected gyms across the island.

The association is encouraging the public, businesses, fitness enthusiasts and families to support the event and the athletes who have dedicated months of training and preparation to competing on stage.

SMBBFA also expressed appreciation to the coaches, gyms, sponsors and supporters contributing to the preparations, emphasizing that community involvement remains important to the continued growth of bodybuilding and fitness on St. Maarten.
