GREAT BAY--St. Maarten Bouyon artist BRG Hollywood has made the final cut of nominees for the Caribbean Music Awards in the Bouyon Artist of the Year category, placing another St. Maarten name on one of the region’s recognized music platforms.

BRG Hollywood is nominated under the wider Artist of the Year grouping, which recognizes artists from the French Caribbean, Bouyon and Latin Caribbean music scenes. The nomination marks an important moment for the artist and for St. Maarten’s growing presence in regional music, particularly in Bouyon, a genre that continues to expand beyond its traditional strongholds and gain wider Caribbean and international attention.

The Caribbean Music Awards is a regional platform dedicated to recognizing, honoring and celebrating artists and other contributors who have made meaningful contributions to Caribbean music and culture. The awards highlight the diversity of Caribbean sound, spanning genres such as Soca, Dancehall, Reggae, Kompa, Bouyon, Zess, Dennery, Jab, Latin Caribbean music and French Caribbean music.

According to the official description of the Artist of the Year category, the award recognizes an artist who has helped redefine the genre through talent, innovation and influence, while also acknowledging outstanding musical contributions, memorable performances and the ability to connect with audiences.

For BRG Hollywood, reaching the final nominee stage represents recognition of his work as a St. Maarten Bouyon artist and places him alongside other regional acts competing in a category that reflects the growing reach of Bouyon music across the Caribbean.

The nomination also adds to what has become a wider moment of visibility for St. Maarten artists in the Caribbean Music Awards. St. Maarten has had several representatives across categories in the 2026 awards cycle, reflecting the island’s expanding contribution to Caribbean music, DJ culture, Kompa and Bouyon.

BRG Hollywood’s inclusion in the final cut is significant not only for the artist, but also for the local creative community, which continues to push St. Maarten music onto larger regional platforms. It also underscores the role of Bouyon as a space where smaller islands and emerging markets can make a strong cultural impact.

The nomination gives St. Maarten supporters an opportunity to rally behind one of their own as Caribbean music fans participate in the awards process and celebrate the artists shaping the sound of the region.

BRG Hollywood said the recognition is a proud moment for him and for St. Maarten, and he encouraged supporters at home and abroad to continue showing love for local music and the artists working to carry the island’s name beyond its shores.

The Caribbean Music Awards continues to serve as a major platform for Caribbean talent, bringing together artists, producers, DJs, performers and music professionals from across the region and the diaspora.

For St. Maarten, BRG Hollywood’s final-cut nomination is another sign that the island’s artists are earning space in broader regional conversations and that local music continues to move beyond the island.

The 2026 Caribbean Music Awards ceremony date and venue have not yet been officially announced by the organizers. The official website lists the event details as “To Be Announced.”
