GREAT BAY--The Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication, through the Inspectorate of Economic and Transport Affairs, has published its list of bus and taxi operators that have successfully completed the 2026 Confirmation Letter Process.
The publication recognizes operators who have fulfilled the Ministry’s administrative requirements and whose records have been verified as part of an ongoing public transportation database clean-up initiative. The exercise is intended to establish an accurate and reliable register of active public transportation operators, strengthen regulatory oversight, improve enforcement planning and support evidence-based policy development.
To date, approximately 130 passenger buses and 399 taxis have been verified through the 2026 Confirmation Letter Process and issued their 2026 Confirmation Letters.
The Ministry is advising all bus and taxi permit holders whose license plates do not appear on the published list that they have two weeks to notify the Inspectorate of Economic and Transport Affairs of their operational status and complete any outstanding requirements.
Operators who have not yet completed the process must submit the required documentation no later than Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., by emailing the Transport Control Unit atteatt.trans@sintmaartengov.org.
Required documentation includes a tax declaration bearing the company’s CRIB number, motor vehicle inspection cards, vehicle insurance policies, the applicable Touring Car or Unregulated Permit issued by the Ministry of TEATT, Chamber of Commerce registration and proof of payment for the 2025 Business and Director’s License where applicable.
Operators must also submit a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet listing all vehicles within their fleet, along with copies of all 2026 road tax receipts.
Permit holders who are not currently operating are required to submit a signed letter explaining the reason for their inactive status together with a copy of their permit before the deadline. The Ministry said this information will allow it to accurately update its records and determine the appropriate administrative status of each permit.
Permit holders are also being reminded that under Article 16(g) of the National Ordinance on Passenger Transport, the Minister may temporarily suspend or permanently revoke a permit when it has not been utilized for a continuous period exceeding six months.
Once the two-week notification period expires, the Ministry will conduct a final review of all outstanding permits. Operators who fail to respond or regularize their status may be referred for administrative action in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The Ministry thanked operators who have already completed the Confirmation Letter Process and encouraged remaining permit holders to use the final opportunity to ensure their records are current before the public transportation database clean-up initiative is concluded.
