RAMBAUD – Riu Hotels continues its social work in the Caribbean, by partaking in the donation of a bus adapted for people with disabilities, which was delivered to the 38 senior residents of the Bethany retirement home in Rambaud.
The keys of the adapted bus were delivered to Etienne Andrew, chairman of Rambaud- Saint-Louis Fête, the association which manages the retirement home; and to the manager, Jean Marie Marchais. With them at the ceremony were dignitaries from the Dutch and French areas, including the President of the Collectivité, Aline Hanson, Senator Guillaume Arnell, Representative Daniel Gibbs and Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams.
In attendance on behalf of RIU Hotels were Francisco Benito, the manager of the Riu Palace St. Martin, and Claire Guion-Firmin, the hotel’s assistant manager.
Over the ten months the initiative lasted, the Rambaud-Saint-Louis Fête Association raised €60,000 to buy a bus which could transport the senior citizens of the Bethany retirement home to any place on the island. A project which RIU Hotels, as well as other local businesses and the government of Saint Martin, joined. Thanks to the joint collaboration, the senior citizens now have a bus with capacity for six wheelchairs, in addition to six seats, in which they can be comfortably transported.
