PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – The Windward Islands Teaches Union (WITU) has gotten wind of plans to demolish the building that housed the former Prince Willem Alexander School.

This plan the WITU believes could pose a health hazard for not only the nearby schools by also the community at large.

There is a problem with the structure of the building as asbestos was used in its construction.

If the building is demolished, the asbestos can become airborne noted Claire Elshot which poses a high risk to the overall community.
