PRESS RELEASE –  On Saturday December 12th 2015, Minister of Public Health, Social Development & Labor, Mr. Emil Lee attended the “Taking Control Through Budgeting” graduation ceremony at the University of St. Martin, whereby 30 persons accomplished their certificates in “Taking Control Through Budgeting.” Minister Lee congratulated the recipients for taking probably the most important and difficult first step; the proper Management of your Finances begins with the desire to understand, question and be critical of your budget.

Minister Lee reminded participants that “budgeting is about being in control of your life and if you don’t make the hard choices for yourself, someone else will. Additionally your budget should reflect your priorities because if budgets don’t match your priorities, you will struggle to achieve your goal.”

The free budgeting program that was held at the Yogesh Building was orchestrated by the Community Development Family & Humanitarian Affairs Department. The program consisted of 11 practical and interactive workshops, namely: Principles of Budgeting, Nutrition on a Budget, Savings and Insurance, Knowing your self-worth, Strategic Alliance Shopping Application, Introduction to Strategic Shopping and Live Cooking Demonstration. The Department would like to encourage participants to take part in their yearly program.

Once again Minister Lee would like to thank Ms. Aida Holaman and the Community Development, Family & Humanitarian Affairs Department for taking charge of this great initiative.
