Philipsburg, Sint Maarten —  Kindly note that the National Decree No. LB-15/0951 dated October 28, 2015 has been revoked and replaced by the National Decree No. LB-15/0992 of October 29, 2015.

The National Decree No. LB-15/0992 of October 29, 2015 stipulates that the postulation date is now set for December 22, 2015.

Consequently, the last day to submit an application to register a new political party with the Electoral Council will be Monday, November 9, 2015.

In view of the short period left to register a new party, the Electoral Council is urging any interested parties to expedite the legally required documents and to register no later than Monday, November 9, 2015.

The legally required documents are:

  1. Notarial deed containing the Articles of Association of the party;
  2. Excerpt from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
  3. Statement containing the appointment of the party’s authorized representative and authorized deputy representative together with proof of identification and contact information;
  4. Application for registration of the reference which is to be placed above the list of candidates.

Equally, any existing political party that wishes to change the previously registered reference above the list of candidates is required to do so before the abovementioned deadline date of November 9, 2015.

Considering the fact that less than one week remains for registration, the Electoral Council will extend its office hours.

The office of the Electoral Council will remain open on Friday, November 6, 2015 and on Monday, November 9, 2015 from  9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
