PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Police Department is presently investigating numerous reports of ill-treatment and threats which took place over the Christmas Holiday weekend.

One incident took place on December 26th (Boxing Day) on the Goldfinch road in Point Blanche where the male suspect injured the male victim by hitting him with an iron in his head. The incident was between the ex- and present boyfriend of a female living at that home.

The situation had seriously gotten out of hand and the police was immediately called in. The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived.

One other incident also took place on December 26th at a home on Ark Shell road in Guana Bay after the male suspect (67) struck his female partner in her face during a heated discussion.

The victim suffered a swollen right jaw and a hematoma under her right eye. The situation got escalated when the two male friends visiting the victim attacked the suspect.

The two visiting friends managed to hold the suspect until the arrival of the police who arrested him on the spot. The suspect was taken to the police station for further investigation.
