SXM DOET funding request deadline approaching!

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten –– Funding requests for all potential SXM DOET projects must be submitted by January 22nd, 2016. This can be done via the SXM DOET website at  WWW.SXMDOET.COM. All guidelines and criteria for projects and/or activities that can or cannot be funded are also available on the website or by contacting the SXM DOET Project Team at +1 721 580-1437 or by e-mail.

The second edition of SXM DOET, will take place on Friday March 11th and Saturday March 12th at various locations around the island. The initiative is part of the Dutch Kingdom’s largest volunteer initiative alongside four other Dutch Caribbean islands and the Netherlands. The event was initiated by the Oranje Fonds and is executed locally by the Be The Change Foundation and private individuals.

Last year’s SXM DOET was the first event of its kind with over 1,000 participating volunteers lending a helping hand at over 30 projects and activities. The hopes for 2016 is to have an even bigger and better turnout.

The www.sxmdoet.com website is ready for organizations, foundations and NGOs to register their projects, and volunteers can sign up to participate in any of the registered projects as well. Projects can be of many different shapes and forms; social activities, material improvements, fun days, building activities, beauty days, learning activities, clean ups, environmental activities, animal welfare activities, and the list goes on.

The ultimate goal is for foundations/organizations to get projects executed and finalized within two days that they otherwise would not be able to do due to a lack of resources and man/woman power. The event becomes an enjoyable and productive day for organizations and a gratifying time of reflection for the volunteers who get to learn more about the great work foundations do for our island community.

For inspiration and ideas check out the SXM DOET video on WWW.SXMDOET.COM and for further information please contact the SXM DOET Project Team by emailing info.sxmdoet@gmail.com or by calling +1 721 580 1437.

The SXM DOET Project Team is looking forward to another successful edition, with all people collaboratively trying to make a difference to their own surroundings, as ‘together we achieve more’.
