PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Police Department is presently investigating an armed robbery which took place on Friday October 13 at approximately 12.25 p.m.

The call came in to the Central Dispatch informing that a man dressed in dark clothing and armed with a handgun had entered Caribbean Gems Jewelry located across from Holland House on Front Street.

He threatened the workers with his weapon and then pulled several gold chains from the chain rack.

He then fled on foot towards Back Street where he is believed to have jumped on a scooter and fled the area.

Several patrols searched the area to located the suspect but were not successful.

This case in under investigation by the Special Robbery Unit.
