COLEBAY, Sint Maarten — Family and friends of the late Rene Francis Paul, better known as “Kobie” gathered Tuesday at the Power Praise Assembly in Colebay for their last tribute to “Kobie” who lost his life violently 3 weeks ago in Rotterdam.

Before the church service, family and friends gathered at the Emerald Funeral Home to escort his body to Colebay, where many trucks, racing cars and motorbikes which formed part of the caravan which escorted the body, put on a loud display as a final sign of respect to”Kobie”. The truck drivers sounded their horns while the racing cars accelerated their engines causing their wheels to spin leaving behind tire marks and clouds of burning tire. This attracted large crowds along the roadside in Cole Bay as the drivers caused a spectacle to the admiration of the large crowds and raised the ire of those who found themselves stuck in traffic as the truck drivers honked their horns.

“Kobie’s” remains will be flown out to the island of Dominica, the land of his birth where a funeral ceremony will be held before his body is laid to rest.
