PHILIPSBURG:---- By National Decree of October 22°d, 2015, signed by the Governor of Sint Maarten,drs.Eugene B. Holiday and contra signed by the Minister of Justice,Mr. Dennis L. Richardson, Mr. Carl
Marcuson John has been appointed Chief of the national Police Force of Sint Maarten.

The position became available after the former Chief of Police, Mr.Peter de Witte,voluntarily kept his promise to vacate the position after 5 years in favor of the appointment of a qualified local candidate.The government acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices that he has made for de development of the national police force of Sint Maarten.

An independent selection committee that was put in place to interview and assess the qualifications of the candidates for the position unanimously recommended Mr. Carl John for Chief of the Police Force of Sint Maarten. Based on this recommendation and the advice of the Minister of Justice the Council of Ministers also unanimously agreed to the appointment of Mr. Carl John. The government congratulates Mr. Carl John with this appointment and is convinced that he is capable of taking the police force to its next level of development.

The oath taking and actual transfer of authority ceremony will take place within short.

Mr. Peter de Witte remains in the service of country Sint Maarten and will execute several special assignments for the Ministry of Justice.
