GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- The Inspectorate of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunications, Section School Bussing would like to wish all school children, school bus drivers, parents and school staff a safe and prosperous 2017.

The motto of Section School Bussing is safety, comfort and reliability. In the interest of safety, the Inspectorate strongly reminds school children and school bus drivers to conduct themselves in a safe manner at all times while riding on or driving a school bus.

School children should remain seated and facing forward at all times while the bus is in motion.

School bus drivers should operate the bus within the established speed limits, not use electronic devices which could cause distraction to themselves or others i.e. listening to music or texting on the phone.

All school buses must be operated safely have working lights, horn, etc.

Parents should ensure that they escort their children to and from the bus stop at all times and that children are at the bus stop at least five minutes before pick up time to minimize delays.

Safety is everyone’s business and the department looks forward to a safe and incident free 2017. Happy New Year!
