Customs seized ammunition drugs and a large amount of cash on a private yacht | 721 NEWS

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — On Monday and Tuesday December 2nd and 3rd 2019,

the border experts of the Sint Maarten Customs department, during their regular controls at the border recovered several grams of contraband and encountered approximately US$14,623.– undeclared on a visiting private yacht.

The contraband confiscated consists of 10 hollow point 9mm ammunition and several grams of cannabis.

The public should also take note that any individual or group traveling with monetary instruments, jewelry and/or valuables with a value equivalent to or exceeding US$14,000.= either entering or leaving Dutch Sint Maarten should be declared to Customs.

The related passengers were questioned regarding the contraband found in their possession.

Those with the cannabis were released after this was seized and those with the ammunition were additionally fined where after they too were released.

The owner of the money was issued a monetary fine by the prosecutor office where after he too was released.
