PHILIPSBURG – During the celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle donations were made to three local organizations.
The donations were made to Lottie Petersen of The Diabetes Foundation, which offers awareness for diabetes in the community and does regular testing on Saturdays at various locations. To Dr. Raymond Jessurun of the Alzheimer’s Foundation, which brings awareness to the community on Dementia and Alzheimer diseases. To Astrigt Hermelijn of the Parkinson Foundation. Parkinsons is a progressive disease of the nervous system marked by tremor, muscular rigidity, and slow, imprecise movement, chiefly affecting middle-aged and elderly people.
Mid Isle was able to raise this money with the help of the 39th Heineken Regatta at the Heineken Regatta car parking on Kim Sha Beach.
The Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle meets Tuesdays at 7:00pm at Mary’s Boone in Simpson Bay. For more information contact rotarysxm.mi@gmail.com or visit their Facebook page Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle.
