Shelters not open before storm

 

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Hurricane Irma is forecasted to pass the islands as a category 3-4 storm, which is a very powerful storm. 721 News has learned through a reliable source that the Hurricane Shelters will not open before the passing of Hurricane Irma. The Prime Minister after the passing of Hurricane Irma will make the call and mention if shelters will open and if they will which ones will be open.

It is important to note that the shelters have absolutely nothing, no beds, towels etc. and that persons have to bring all of their own necessities. In addition, persons are allowed to stay in the shelter for no more than 48 hours.

Persons who live in flood prone areas or in a home that the structure may not be safe is advised to go and stay with family or friends as the shelters will not open before Hurricane Irma passes.

  1. This sounds like the typical actions/reactions of the “esteemed” government of St. Maarten. It was a mess when the island was still part of the Net. Antilles and it has absolutely not been made better after the day they became “INDEPENDENT”.
    The person who calls himself the Prime Minister appears to have no BRAINS whatsoever, if he thinks that his actions on Hurricane Shelters are properly devised. Well this good man shows clearly that he and all the other idiots in Government have no clue what they are talking about and stating as being the words and actions that will only cause damage to people when protection is needed most.
