WEST PLAINS, Missouri – American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine-trained Dr. Mirza Mahmood recently joined Missouri’s Ozarks Medical Center’s hospitalist team.
A hospitalist is a physician who focuses solely on caring for patients while they are staying in the hospital. Hospitalists assess and treat the patient’s acute medical condition, keep the patient’s primary physician informed of their progress, and coordinate all aspects of the patient’s hospital care.
Dr. Mahmood earned his medical degree from AUC School of Medicine in St. Maarten and completed his Residency at Southern Illinois University, Decatur. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Having grown up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Dr. Mahmood enjoys many outdoor activities, including hiking and running. Hosptial officials say he is looking forward to exploring the Ozarks.
Other members of the team include Dr. Muhammad Qamar, Dr. Kendell Clarkston, Dr. Priscilla Frase, Dr. Oleksandr Halytskyy, Dr. Alex Makarian, Dr. Samantha Wallace, and Dr. Linda Wangui.
