The three police unions reacts to the Minister of Justice statement at the press briefing | 721 NEWS

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — As we listen to the Council of Minister press briefing from today, Wednesday 11th of December 2019, the statement of the hon Minister of Justice Mr. E.J. Doran has been heard. We as Unions will not hold on to that cause, because we had the same ministers as members of Parliament.

When it was brought to their attention the status of the police affairs back in February and May 2019. So for we, all minister and all members of Parliament are aware of our case and fight. Beside advance payment based on the article 50 sub A of the contabiliteit landsverordering, this was a proposal brought up between the former minister of Finance and the Unions. To our surprise we took note that the same dollar can’t be spent twice.

We are not a political Union and therefore we won’t take part in any political game.

At this standpoint we can say enough is enough. As Minister of Justice the Hon E.J. Doran has to do his part to ensure that the National decree is finalized before year end.

In his tenure in Parliament the now Hon Minister Doran had received a copy of the package containing the function book, salary scale and the Rechtpositie for the workers of the Police force of Sint Maarten for him to review it.

The police force of Sint Maarten has been operating for over nine years without the right documentation in place for his workers.  We are hoping that the advance payment that was assured by the Hon Minister of Finance after he exhaust all the options can still proceed despite the time squandering by the previous Minister of Justice.
