EMPLOYMENT / Mangrove Academy: the next generation of hotel and restaurant professionals on the move | FAXINFO

Tuesday, October 21, at the Coco Beach restaurant, the Mangrove Academy organized a new Job Dating, a meeting point between young candidates and local businesses. This event marks the preparation of the second promotion from the apprentice training center (CFA), after the success of the first launch in 2024.

Of the 23 young people involved in this first class, 21 will take the exam next November, and the majority will continue their career path within their host company. “It was a real challenge, but the results show that the formula works,” says Antoine Gomes, director of the CFA Mangrove. Prepared at Fore IDN before their apprenticeship, these young people were able to alternate two weeks in a company and two weeks at school, a rhythm designed to combine theory and practice.

The new 2025-2026 session is already taking shape, with more than forty young people present at Job Dating, a fifteen companies ready to commit, and strong partners like the Local mission ou Jielle Training which offers advanced French courses for young English speakers. Apprenticeship contracts will begin in November/December, for an immersion period until the end of March. “We start for adapt to seasonality”, explains Sophie Viguier, from the Department of Economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity (DEETS).

Qualiopi certified, the Mangrove Academy now trains seven qualifying professions : Receptionist or floor staff in hotels and outdoor accommodation, kitchen assistant, CAP pastry chef, waiter/waitress or multi-skilled employee in catering, sales advisor in hotels/restaurants. “Motivation remains the main driving force,” recalls Antoine Gomes, convinced that learning is an essential lever to transform local resources into skills and strengthen the vitality of the economic fabric of Saint-Martin. _Vx
