PRESS RELEASE – RECTORATE: Situation at Daniella Jeffry High School – Saint-Martin | FAXINFO

“For several months, the functioning of the Daniella JEFFRY high school has been affected by persistent tensions. Long latent, these have now been expressed openly. They have led to a significant deterioration of the social climate within the establishment.
This situation recently led to a strike by local government employees. It is taking place within a context of severely deteriorated labor relations.
The information brought to the attention of the academic authority reveals multiple malfunctions. These are likely to compromise the continuity of public service and the conditions under which staff can carry out their duties.
Consequently, and in light of his responsibilities, Rector Gabriele Fioni has decided to launch an administrative inquiry. This will begin on February 2nd and will be conducted with complete independence.

As a reminder, access to the vocational high school remained blocked on Monday and Tuesday. Vice-Rector Harry Christophe visited the school yesterday morning to reopen dialogue with all parties involved, including the school administration. At this stage, aside from the somewhat vague press release from the Guadeloupe Education Authority, relayed by the National Education Service of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, no other official information has been released, leaving teachers and students in a state of uncertainty and awaiting clear decisions.
