The Sint Maarten police (KPSM) are investigating a armed robbery occurred on Wednesday, July 15, around 20:45 p.m., in a supermarket located on Union Road, in Cole Bay.

According to the first elements of the investigation, two armed individuals burst into the store, threatened the cashier, and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects then fled on a scooter parked nearby. They would have been last seen heading towards the border with the French part of the island.

This new episode comes at a time when Robberies are increasing on both sides of the island.Several pharmacies in Marigot, as well as two businesses near the Cul-de-Sac roundabout, have recently been targeted in armed robberies. With this latest incident in Cole Bay, the Dutch side of the island also appears to be experiencing a surge in robberies.
