ATHLETICS: The Northern Islands reach a new sporting milestone | FAXINFO

The Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin Territorial Athletics Committee was officially approved on April 18th in Saint-Brieuc, during the General Assembly of the French Athletics Federation (FFA). This significant recognition recognizes several years of work by local stakeholders and marks a major step forward for the development of the sport in the Northern Islands.
This validation allows for a better consideration of the specific characteristics of the two territories, while offering them an autonomous organizational framework within the national federation. It also strengthens their integration into the French athletics network.
The committee now intends to develop the sport for all, with a particular focus on youth, performance, and enhancing the region’s appeal as a sport. A general assembly will be held soon to appoint the governing bodies. In the meantime, the presidency is being held by Magali Jasaron, president of the Avenir Sportif Club of Saint Martin, who was elected delegate for the clubs of Guadeloupe: “It is an honor for me to have attended and participated in this vote. I have a special thought for those, more experienced than me in athletics, who initiated this project and passed the torch to me to implement it.”
