A man was seriously injured following a knife attack occurred on Friday 17 October, around 8h20, near a supermarket located on Bush Road, in Sint Maarten.
Alerted by several calls, the police emergency center (KPSM) immediately dispatched patrols and a medical team to the scene. Upon arrival, the police discovered the victim with multiple stab woundsParamedics provided first aid at the scene before transporting the man to the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC), where he was admitted to a condition considered serious.
Shortly after the incident, investigators received information indicating the presence of the suspect in another areaA patrol crew attended the scene and quickly made his arrest. The individual was taken to the Philipsburg police station, where he is currently placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation.
According to the authorities, the victim and the aggressor know each other and would both face psychological and social difficultiesThe KPSM took advantage of this new episode of violence to call for joint mobilization of social actors in order to prevent this type of recurring tragedy. The investigation was entrusted to the KPSM detectives, who invite anyone with information to contact the police at +1 (721) 542-2222, via the anonymous line 9300, or to report directly to the Philipsburg police station.
