The Government of Sint Maarten, led by Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina, expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Ms. Eileen Healy, a dedicated advocate, leader, and long-standing pillar within our community. Her loss is profoundly felt across the nation, particularly within the health and social service sectors to which she devoted her life.

Ms. Healy played an instrumental role in building and strengthening the Mental Health Foundation (MHF), where she served with unwavering commitment and compassion. Her leadership helped shape the Foundation into a vital institution for the people of Sint Maarten, ensuring that mental health care was not only accessible but treated with dignity and urgency. Through her tireless work, she championed greater understanding, awareness, and acceptance of mental health challenges — breaking barriers and offering hope to countless individuals and families.

Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina reflected on her life’s work, stating:

“Ms. Eileen Healy was a true humanitarian whose dedication to mental health transformed lives and strengthened our national health system. Her legacy will live on in the thousands of people who were supported, uplifted, and empowered through her service. As MHF makes strides forward, I have no doubt that her guidance and blessings will continue to help shape the Foundation into the dream she always envisioned.”

In addition to her work in mental health, Ms. Healy was also a strong advocate for breast cancer awareness and community outreach initiatives. She understood deeply the importance of early detection, education, and support networks. Her involvement in awareness campaigns helped amplify critical conversations around women’s health, saving lives and uniting the community around a shared mission of care and resilience.

Prime Minister Dr. Mercelina added:

“Her passion for breast cancer awareness and community service reflected her unwavering belief that every life has value and that we each hold a responsibility to care for one another. Sint Maarten is better because she lived among us, served among us, and loved among us.”

The Government of Sint Maarten extends heartfelt sympathy to her family, friends, colleagues at the Mental Health Foundation, and all who were touched by her remarkable spirit. As a nation, we honor her legacy and reaffirm our commitment to the causes to which she dedicated her life.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her life continue to inspire compassion, service, and unity within our beloved country.
