The prefecture convened the following on November 21st: four brands now engaged in the Price-Quality Shield (BQP), in order to sign an agreement described as “an important step” by Prefect Cyrille Le Vély.
Around the table, Super U, Petit Casino, Cadis Market and Monoprix have approved an expanded basket, marking a significant step forward for the program. “The BQP is one of my absolute priorities: working with the sectors on the high cost of living problem”, the prefect reminded, highlighting the structural constraints of a territory “where living implies a high cost””, between maritime transport, air transport and a fragile supply chain.
According to Secretary General Fabrice Thibier, “the distributors all played their part despite the structural challenges. The transit from Le Havre means twenty-one days lost on a boat”, recalling the surge in prices “of more than 40% since 2021According to him, the objective was to adapt the products “to the reality of needs” while taking into account the proposals of consumer associations. Twelve new references were thus integrated.
The result is a Basket capped at €140 for 60 products in Petit Casino, Cadisco and Monoprix stores, while Super U adds six children’s products without exceeding that price. “As every year, the agreement went smoothly. We excluded sweets to focus on the essentials,” explained Gwenaëlle Rocher, director of the Super U in Hope Estate.
The prefect finally reminded everyone that the BQP is only one part of a broader strategyTelecommunications, insurance, and banking services will soon be the subject of discussions “to promote the same approach.” The audits will begin as soon as shelf placement, early December, in order to guarantee the effectiveness of the system. _Vx
