The choice is made: it is Martinican artist Jérémie Priam who has been selected for the next visual art residency organized by HeadMade Factory (HMF) in Saint-Martin.
His project is part of the theme proposed this year : “Provocation always produces an effect in us, in the form of a reaction…”, inspired by a text by Jiddu Krishnamurti on the liberation of the creative spirit. An invitation to question conditioning, conformity and prejudice through the artistic act.
36 years old, Jeremiah Priam has established himself in the Caribbean landscape through an approach that is both poetic and political. A graduate of the Caribbean Arts Campus with the jury's congratulations in 2013, he explores the sensitive areas of Caribbean society: the memory of theslavery, popular beliefs, vanity, consumption or even uprooting. His work, multifaceted (drawing, video, performance, sculpture or installation), is intended as a questioning cultural heritage and identity reflexes, in search of a “decolonial” perspective on contemporary art. Rejecting all exoticism, he prefers the subtle provocation of an imagination freed from clichés.
The residency will take place between January and April 2026, in the HMF workshop located at Marigot, for a period of three to four weeks. The artist will benefit from a time of experimentation and creation immersed in the Saint-Martin region, supported by the Community and DAC of Guadeloupe.
Since its founding in 2010 by Florence Poirier-Nkpa, HeadMade Factory works at unite energies around contemporary creation and to promote Caribbean artists internationally.
