Known to the general public for her comedy duo “ Domino ”, his previous shows and more recently for his role in the TV movie “Murders in Saint-Martin”Laurence Joseph slipped in one last time in the skin of his favorite characters. ErnestineThe role of the oldest woman, which she has portrayed since she was 15, moved the audience with its tenderness and lucidity, while Tix, a young, rebellious rapper, electrified the room. Carlita, the Dominican prostitute, or even AngieThe singer, in search of her identity, have alternately provoked laughter and compassion.
Throughout this kaleidoscopic comedyThe artist changes tone, accent, and rhythm with a disconcerting fluidityShe goes from Creole to French, of the zouk to French song, by delivering masterful imitations of Jacques Brel, Édith Piaf and Johnny HallydayBetween bursts of laughter, she slips in profound messages about the status of women, climate change, politics or, the place of the elderly in society.
“I’m the Rihanna of the Caribbean, but without the billions” she says with a burst of self-deprecation that perfectly encapsulates her sharp and generous humor. The audience, won over, laughs, sings, and joins in the final improvisations before giving her a standing ovation deserved.
