E-WEEKEND 2025 / Innovation and responsibility: the dual challenge of digital technology | FAXINFO

Supported by the CCISM, the 3rd edition of E-Weekend confirmed the digital dynamics of Saint-Martin. Placed under the sign of artificial intelligence (AI), it combined innovation, exchanges and collective energy.

 

More than 210 face-to-face participants and thirty online connections participated in this intense day dedicated to AI.

From his opening speech, Angela Dormoy, president of the CCISM, set the tone: “Artificial intelligence is not a fad, it is a concrete tool to make our businesses more efficient and better adapted to a changing world.”

There’s plenty of 15 masterclasses and round table “Guavaberry Networking” offered a rich overview of the uses of AI in education, marketing, cybersecurity and business management. The public was able to discover inspiring testimonies, like that of teacher Estelle Sablon : “We are training the citizens of tomorrow in this technology through a digital usage charter, we must maintain an ethical and responsible posture,” or that of the Caribbean consultant Diederik Kemmerling, recalling that “the more clearly we speak to AI, the more efficient it becomes: it is the human who holds the key to the result.”

The exchanges nevertheless raised ethical questionsHow far can we delegate to AI? How can we guarantee data protection? These are all topics debated by the speakers, including Anne Elghozi, data specialist, and Julien Bataille, director of the CCISM, who asked the room: “At what point do we lose control?”. While many questions still remain unanswered, let us note that AI reached 100 million users worldwide faster than any other technology.

With this new format, supported by numerous regional experts and key partners, E-Weekend confirms its role as a catalyst for innovation. Beyond the technical aspects, it is above all thecollective energy which made an impression. “We show that, even from a small island, we can make big ideas grow,” confided Laurina Algain Gombs, digital referent of the CCISM.

For the CCISM, this is just the beginning: after two workshops on ChatGPT, automation and visual creation with Canva are already scheduled for October. _Vx
